2020 UTS Library

UTS has changed its dynamic over the years and with this proposed library, it allows for the user to view and use the library in a whole new different way. Approaching this library design, the main focus of studies done was to research the people of sydney and how they used public spaces, how the uses of the public spaces changed or enhanced the environment. It is also an opportunity for the integration of uni life with the city, as the proposed residential buildings on the fosters site set to commence construction, it will bring a whole new demographic to the area apart from students and to create a design which allowed for multiple uses was of high importance.

The new library is an automated storage and retrieval system which forces the user into a drop in and dropoff type of research. The use of private study rooms allows for students and the general public to study, relax and interact with the building and eachother. The openable roof allows the university to control the natural elements that enter the building and walls that are operable allow for many different entrances into the building.
